T A Design is functional Art

Tim Allen Design

Fusing design with innovative technology.

I became interested in design and studied it in college at Central Michigan University and Western Michigan University where I learned to express my love for the principles of design and the concepts of form and function.

Once out of college, I learned much about the industry when I took several jobs in related fields — first as an intern logo designer at a graphic design firm, then at the General Motors Photographic division and finally in a Detroit Advertising agency.

In 1998 I formed Tim Allen Design. It’s my personal outlet store for my ideas. A studio with a cool environment to encourage the creative juices. Designs from my lab have included a series of hand and power tools, automobiles, film promotional print pieces, solar designs, logos, and even a four-wheel drive hot rod inspired wheelchair.

I love making stuff look cooler and work better. I just can't stop my head from thinking — I wonder what would happen if we just…

It all starts with a vision of a completed piece and a mapped out strategy to that end follows. I’ve been using this approach for my stand-up, movies, television projects and my books. This is the same creative process I utilize in my design projects.

Between my passion for design and the amazing group at Tim Allen Design — our end products are truly… (spoken from my hotroding circles)… sanitary.
