Holidays
I hope everyone had a nice holiday break and didn’t have to spend too much time with people who require extra energy. (Usually relatives!)
I spent Christmas with my wife’s family in Atlanta, whom I truly adore. Lot’s of laughing – lots of little kids and lots of sugar! You know the holiday 4 major food groups. The sucrose, the fructose, the glucose groups -- and, of course, the processed sugars group (which includes the caffeine based sugars, encompassing the entire chocolate family.) Ah, holiday nutrition!
We even were introduced to a new cookie-candy combo with a curious filling. Lots of “hmmmms”, but in the end, always a curious face… ”What’s in this?” Ends up – it’s smashed up Oreos mixed with butter and of course -- sugar.
From Atlanta, we went home to Michigan to spend time with my parents and family, and continue the holiday tradition of over-eating. Before getting back to real life, we went out West looking for heart problems to surface while skiing in Colorado. When that failed to entertain, I tried my best to keep everyone busy with snowmobiling, activities, games, etc., but a few made claims of being bored. Bored?!! So I covered them in fresh blood and had them run near fresh bear tracks to keep them excited. (Not much fun as a participant, but a great spectator’s sport!) I could have used a few more days before the New Year started, but 2008 rolled in on schedule, with little regard for me or the bears.
Wrapped
“The Six Wives of Henry LeFay” has wrapped. It was great fun being married for those weeks to six wonderful women. I especially enjoyed working with Jenna Elfman. She is one funny lady. I’m looking forward to seeing the film when it’s put together. I don’t know when it’s scheduled to come out but we’ll be sure to post updates.
Turning Green
My production office is located in an industrial area of LA, which simply means streets with lots of concrete. I decided I wanted to plant some trees along our street as part of my own little beautification program. So after obtaining the required approval from neighboring businesses, (hey, who doesn’t like trees), I’ve joined the Los Angeles initiative called “One Million Trees”, with the goal of turning LA into a “green” sustainable city by planting over the next several years – yes, you guessed it – One Million Trees! After a lot of red tape, I, Tim Allen and crew, will plant our first installment. We will plant and care for 9 of that 1 million! Time to get that jackhammer fired up and break up some concrete!
